A Message from Principal Morgan

Greetings Ute Meadows Community, I am so excited to introduce myself as your Interim Principal for the 2018-2019 school year. I know Ute Meadows to be a high achieving school that does great things for students. I am thrilled to join you on your journey.

I have been with Jeffco Schools for the last 6 years. My background is in mental health. I have served as a school based mental health provider as well as an Assistant Director of Special Education. In this capacity I previously supported the special education team at Ute Meadows. This work involved partnering with your team in both the general education and center based programs. I have a passion for the whole child rooted in the belief that all kids can learn when closest to core instruction and included.

This year, I have served as the Assistant Principal at Powderhorn Elementary. I have valued this experience as it allowed me to build relationships with students, staff, and families. I have enjoyed collaborating with teachers in order to make instructional adjustments that better support rigorous student learning. I have valued developing systems with paraprofessionals in order to support expected behaviors and instructional support. I have treasured working directly with students to set goals and increase independence. I have respected partnerships with parents on discipline related issues, as well as ways to build on student strengths. I consider communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills to be essential in maintaining a strong team. I am honored to join the Ute Meadows community. This school has a track record of high achievement and community involvement.

I am looking forward to the opportunity to build on the strengths of this community, grounding in your mission, in order to makes leaps and bounds forward for students. I can’t wait to meet you!

Dawn Morgan, MSW, Ed.S.
